God’s Opinion of Us Is Superior, Genesis 11:6

Pyramids of Giza, Egypt & Sphinx

In 2008 I had to leave my beloved Silky terrier, Buster, in my dad’s care for two weeks while my mother and I toured Egypt. It was an amazing experience and we’d like to return to visit the ancient archeological sites again. We also got to see the Tutankhamen exhibit at the Cairo Museum, pieces that did not go on tour due to size, such as the large golden boxes the boy Pharaoh was buried in. I highly recommend all Christians and Jewish people tour Egypt. You really gain a perspective of how courageous Moses was. The great pyramids and other temples are mere shadows of what they once were—but what mighty shadows they cast! The original buildings during their heyday must’ve been awe inspiring.

But there’s many TV programs on cable nowadays with so-called experts who claim that ancient humans weren’t capable of creating such marvelous monuments of engineering, so alien visitors from outer space must’ve helped them out.

But God has a much higher view of human intelligence and capability, as detailed in Genesis 11:5-6:

“The Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built.

“The Lord said, ‘Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them.’”

I wonder where these alien believing pundits think modern human intelligence came from? We just suddenly produced Thomas Edisons, Isaac Newtons, and Steve Jobs in only the modern era? There were no geniuses in earlier times?

Look at Roman engineering feats. The pantheon, with its circular roof surrounding an oculus, showcasing the sky or the aqueducts and bridges that still stand over two thousand years later.

We are made in God’s image and, therefore, are capable of amazing creativity and intelligence. I truly believe that we can solve any problem with our amazing ingenuity and don’t need to resort to oppressive laws and restrictions on human endeavors to accomplish great things. Only dictators, or self-congratulatory elitists, distrust the population and don’t permit them the freedom to create.

In fact, why has human knowledge and ingenuity accelerated the past hundred-and-fifty years? Because humans throughout the world can quickly interact with one another since the laying of the first transatlantic cable.

So, please, stop believing the kooks who claim that aliens are responsible for the construction of humankind’s great achievements. For as God says in the Bible, when people work together:

“Nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them.”

God bless you.

And happy Labor Day for my American readers.

Much love from Dawn and Buddy

God confused the language of humankind to stop them from completing the tower they were building at Babel on the plain of Shinar. Their motive was to reach the heavens in their own power and strength, rather than seeking the Lord.

Every religion but Christianity teaches that you can please a god or gods through self effort and earn your way into heaven. But Jesus said that “No one is good except God alone (Luke 18:19)” and that the standard to enter heaven is perfection (Matthew 5:48).

So if you think you can be good enough to enter heaven, hoping that you’ll end your life committing more good deeds than bad, you’re deceived.

No one is perfect, including me. We all fall short (Romans 3:23).

So how can a person enter heaven?

God sent Jesus to the earth, His Son and part of the Trinity, to live a perfect life in our place. Because He is God and is perfect, Jesus was punished and died for our sins.

If Jesus didn’t live a perfect life, He would’ve had to die for His own sins. But He had none, so was able to suffer in our place.

Do you realize how amazing God is? He loves us so much that He willingly took the punishment we deserve, because we can never meet his standard of perfection to enter heaven.

Do you want to give up trying to be perfect, or living in constant self-condemnation, when you don’t have to? If so, please pray the below:

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for providing a way for imperfect me to enter Heaven and live eternally in Your kingdom of love. Please forgive all my sins. I call on Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. I give my life to you. Help me learn how much you love me and the amazing way you’ve designed me. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

If you’ve prayed sincerely, congratulations, you’re a born again child of the living God. Please start reading the Bible daily as it’s your soul food. Your soul needs daily nourishment, just as your body does. I suggest starting with the Book of Matthew as it’s easy to understand.

Also, please join a Bible believing church or Bible study. Christians are not supposed to be loners but are to be in fellowship with one another. If that’s not possible right now, I suggest these three ministries, which also have apps, if that’s your preference: http://www.LTW.com, http://www.InTouch.org and http://www.AndrewFarley.org. There are other godly ministries, but it’s easy to be misled till you know the Bible fairly well.

God bless you. May Buddy and I see you in heaven one day.

God Knows Best, 1 Corinthians 2:6

I know you have chickie!

My family used to own a handsome German Shepherd who weighed about 120 pounds. He usually came when we called, but occasionally he would refuse. He’d look at me, smiling, as if saying, “I don’t feel like coming. What are you going to do about it?”

There was nothing I could do about it. I’d wait patiently till Rambo had completed his barking or exploration, then he’d come to me when he felt like it.

At 19.5 pounds, Buddy doesn’t have the same option to disobey. If he refuses to listen, I just pick him up. Argument over.

God is our creator. Technically, He’s also our owner. But He gives us the freedom to obey, or disobey.

For the born again believer, the Holy Spirit within us will make us miserable till we give in and consent to obey.

Of course, God always wants our best and disobedience leads to unpleasant consequences that He wants to protect us from.

But just as important as obeying God is for our earthly welfare, so is knowing WHO to obey.

The Apostle Paul admonishes believers to listen to God in Christ, rather than people because God has:

“A wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away…”—1 Corinthians 2:6

The Roman rulers, government and Greek philosophers of Paul’s time died and the Roman Empire collapsed. There is only one kingdom that is lasting and eternal. It’s foolish to choose the teachings of our current culture and leaders over Christ and God’s Word, the Bible.

“For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.”—1 Corinthians 1:18

The Apostle Paul was highly educated and apparently familiar with the culture of his day. But after his encounter with the resurrected Messiah, Jesus Christ, He chose to follow Christ and promote the gospel of the New Covenant wholeheartedly.

So who are you choosing to listen to and believe?

The people of this world who perish?

Or the everlasting, omnipotent risen Christ?

Who has all power, rule and authority in heaven and on earth forever (Matthew 28:18).

It’s your choice.

Every day.

God bless you.

We are all just temporary travelers on our earthly path. Every day is an opportunity to choose to continue to live in the kingdom of darkness under the rule of the devil or ask Jesus to transfer you into His kingdom of light under God’s rule and control.

God wants us to voluntarily love and obey Him. He doesn’t want mindless robots. He wants people to freely give and receive His love. He doesn’t force Himself on anyone. Just imagine if God stood on the mountaintops and in His thunderous voice demanded that we obey Him. We’d obey but feel anger toward Him as our activity was not freely given in love.

Jesus stands and politely knocks on the door of every human heart, asking us to open up to Him (Revelation 3:20). You may have sensed something is wrong with your spirit but not understand what that is, like I did in the past. It’s likely you’re sensing Jesus asking you to invite Him into your life.

If you’re ready to become born again, inviting the Holy Spirit of God into your life to give you new life, please pray the below. I have never regretted asking God into my life; only that I didn’t do it fifteen years sooner.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for loving me and inviting me into a relationship with You through Your Son Jesus Christ. Please forgive my sins. I ask Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I give my life to You. Help me understand how to follow Your leading and guidance. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

If you prayed sincerely, congratulations, you’re born again. Please start reading the Bible as it’s your soul food. As your body needs daily nourishment to be healthy, so does your soul. I suggest starting with the Book of Matthew as it’s easy to understand.

Also, please join a Bible believing church or Bible study. And get baptized. If that’s not possible right now, I suggest these three ministries, which also have apps, if that’s your preference: http://www.AndrewFarley.org, http://www.InTouch.org and http://www.LTW.org. Money Is The Answer To Everything, Ecclesiastes 10:19

Buddy wondering what I’m doing.

Providing for a dog takes a lot of money, as any pet owner knows. Besides food, there’s medicines, vet bills, beds, treats, toys, cleaning supplies, kennels and even additional pet charges for checking into a motel with a pet. But the love, companionship and protection is worth every penny spent.

The writer of the Biblical book of Ecclesiastes is generally considered to be the ancient king of Israel, Solomon. Though God spoke to him personally, he still turned away from serving the Lord due to the influence of his hundreds (not kidding) of pagan wives. However, some wonder if he repented before he died if he did compose this book. (Seems to me he was the author did based upon the accomplishments listed.)

The book of Ecclesiastes generally states the futility of living a life without knowing God. You can live long, happy, prosperous lives full of good works but still ultimately be a failure because death is the great equalizer: a foolish heir can destroy all your wealth and accomplishments; death claims both the wise and the foolish; fame is fleeting as future generations forget, or destroy, the accomplishments of prior generations.

Solomon really nailed it with the following verse. It’s as if he foresaw the future of today. Yet, it’s really because human nature doesn’t change over the millennia.

For nonbelievers, Solomon declares in Ecclesiastes 10:19:

“Money is the answer to everything.”

Nonbelievers seem to try to “fix” every societal problem by throwing money at it. They increase taxes or beg for money or demand someone else pay off their debts or bills.

“The leech has two daughters, ‘Give,’ ‘Give.’”—Proverbs 30:15

The truth is, they are trying to “fix” problems without God, but that never works. As our Creator, He wrote the instruction manual on how we operate and what’s best for us.

It’s called The Bible.

Western civilization is actually engaged in a debate regarding the nature of humankind: Are we born good or sinful?

The view of human nature determines the solution to humanity’s problems.

God declares that we are all born spiritually dead, so he sent His Son Jesus to be born of a virgin, live a sinless life, and die to take the just penalty that our sins deserve. Then He rose from the dead, proving that His sin sacrifice was sufficient punishment for our sins, that He is the Lord God, and declares righteous those who place their faith in Him as Lord (Matthew 1:23), (1 John 2:1-2), (Romans 10:8-10), etc.

God loves us so much, He took the punishment we deserve, instead of casting us away from His presence forever.

So, for believers, traditionally the solution to society’s problems is to restrain our wicked nature through God’s laws, repentance and government authority. Society is screwed up because every person tends to sin.

But nonbelievers believe that we’re born good and, by loosening governmental, religious, cultural and family restraints on people, people will make better choices. For them, society is screwed up because of its prejudice and intolerance and unrealistic restraints on human behavior.

So, for example, instead of ensuring better police training to respect human life, the nonbeliever calls for less restraint on criminal behavior and defunding the police and pushing those funds elsewhere.

Instead of investigating the spiritual roots of an emotional or ungodly behavior, they ignore it, choosing to believe that human behavior can be improved without the assistance of a new heart given supernatural life through the power of the Holy Spirit (Ezekiel 11:19-21, 2 Corinthians 5:17).

I could give more examples, but the purpose of this post tonight is to give you a new lens through which to view what is going on. To equip you to think about what you’re observing in the society you’re living in.

Because the bottom line is, money is not the answer.

Jesus is.

***

It’s wonderful to hear nonbelievers beginning to realize that a spiritual battle is going on. They see Western civilization breaking apart at the seams and realize something is really wrong. Evil seems to be escalating and gaining a foothold in our media, schools, government and culture at large. Even traditional institutions like the Church are losing faith and power.

But every person who is empowered with new life by the Holy Spirit, God of the Trinity, becomes a point of light, restraining darkness in this world.

Like me in 1989, you might be realizing that something is wrong, but it’s not just “out there”—it’s “in there”, in your soul. You know something’s wrong, but not what it is.

That, my friend, is the Spirit of Jesus knocking on the door of your heart. As many preachers say, God will knock on the door of your heart but not break down the door. He wants you to invite Him into your life (Revelation 3:20).

If you’re ready to ask God to be your Lord and give you new life and a new spirit, please pray the following:

Dear Heavenly Father, I ask Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. Please forgive my sins. I invite the Holy Spirit into my life and heart. Make me a new creation in Christ Jesus. I give my life to You. You promise to complete a good work You’ve begun in me and to never leave nor forsake me. Deliver me from evil and temptation. Help me learn how much You love me. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

If you prayed sincerely, congratulations you are born again. Please join a Bible believing Church or Bible study and get baptized. The World Has Always Been A Mix Of Good And Bad People, Proverbs 25:26

NOT a happy dog.

We train our pets so that they can interact with us and others, both human and animal, in a civilized fashion. Because Buddy was abused for three years before being rescued by his foster mother, I was reluctant to discipline him because he was so fearful.

He’s a little monster now in some ways, but generally is a good boy. He’s small enough that I can quickly pick him up if I sense trouble brewing.

The book of Proverbs has a warning that many Christians do not seem to be heeding:

“Like a trampled spring and a polluted well is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.”—Proverbs 25:26

We want to obey Christ and not judge, because we want others to come to know that God loves them and to encourage them to be saved.

But Christianity has always been about balance.

Jesus also commanded:

“Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”—John 7:24

In the Old Testament, God cautions the prophet Samuel:

“Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature…for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”—1 Samuel 16:7

So what does this really mean?

We cannot judge a person’s motives, because we cannot see their heart. Even Martin Luther in his pamphlet “Christian Liberty” warned that bad people can do good deeds. Only God examines the soul.

But that doesn’t mean that we cannot judge a behavior as right or wrong.

As the title to this blog post states, there has always been a mix of good and bad people in this world. If not for good people standing up against evil, bad people would prevail and do great harm. It’s not loving others to allow them to become victims of evil.

So besides a fear of disobeying God and wrongly judging others, what might cause a person to permit the dirt of sin to pollute our world (Proverbs 25:26)?

Five things, I believe, which God hates or warns against.

1. Cowardice: “But for the cowardly…their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”—Revelation 21:8

2. Unbelief, uncertainty that God is with a person to help them prevail against evil: “For by You I can run upon a troop; by my God I can leap over a wall…He trains my arms for battle.”—2 Samuel 22:30, 35

3. A false belief that Satan and evil is more powerful than good: “Upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hades will NOT overpower it.”—Jesus, Matthew 16:18

And:

“Do not be afraid of sudden fear nor the onslaught of the wicked WHEN it comes; for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.”—Proverbs 4:25-26

4. Naivety: “For the waywardness of the naive will kill them,”—Proverbs 1:32

5. Passivity: “And the complacency of fools will destroy them.”—Proverbs 1:32

To summarize: cowardice, unbelief, underestimating God’s power, naivety, and passivity can cause good people to run from responsibility to stand against evil.

I’m not guiltless. But I don’t want to die a coward, letting my country go down the drain or see people hurt, enslaved or murdered because I wasn’t willing to speak out and “stand firm against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:11).”

So are you standing against evil?

Or running away?

God bless you.

Much love from Dawn and Buddy

Without the power and presence of God working in your life and heart, it’s difficult to muster up the courage to fight evil or just withstand the pressure to conform, even when you know something is wrong and you shouldn’t be participating or giving tacit approval through silence.

But no power is more mighty than God’s.

“The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, the world and those who dwell in it.”—Psalm 24:1

In Psalm 2 God mocks at the nations which don’t want Him nor His Messiah, Jesus, ruling over them. He is in control of history, nations, time and people. Nothing escapes His notice.

God is kind and works in people’s lives, even those who refuse His love nor acknowledge His existence.

But if you want eternal life and assurance that He hears your prayers (Matthew 7:7-11), please surrender your life to Him, acknowledging Him as Your Lord and God.

Please repeat the following prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, I call on Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. Please forgive all my sins. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Save me from your wrath on Judgment Day because Jesus died for my sins. I give my life to You. Be my God, Father, Savior and Wonderful Counselor (Isaiah 9:6). Thank you for hearing my prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.

If you prayed with sincerity, congratulations, you’re born again. Please start reading the Bible daily as it’s your soul food. I suggest starting with the Book of Matthew as it’s easy to understand.
